FTX 5th Distribution Not Received? Step 8, the 16 June Record Date and What To Do Now

Key facts

  • FTX announced a fifth distribution of approximately $900 million starting 31 July 2026, with a record date of 16 June 2026.
  • Eligibility required an allowed claim, original-holder KYC, a valid tax form (Step 7), completed provider onboarding (Step 8) and sanctions screening by the record date.
  • Eligible creditors were told to expect funds from their provider within 1 to 3 business days. This was an expected delivery window, not confirmation of every individual payment.
  • The six-month onboarding clock starts with the first distribution date associated with the claim being allowed. A separate tax-form clock runs from the first notice. Check your own deadline.

Facts as of 16 October 2026, from FTX's support pages and the 17 July 2026 announcement.

If your FTX claim received payments in earlier rounds and nothing arrived after 31 July, check your claim's entitlement for this round as well as the pre-distribution steps. A previous payment does not establish that another amount was due. FTX requires all eligibility conditions to be met on the record date. Below are the checks to run, the provider restrictions to understand, and the deadlines that can turn a delayed payment into a lost one.

FTX fifth distribution checklist: claim status, KYC, tax form and provider onboarding, with a January 2027 deadline warning
31 January 2027 applies when 31 July 2026 was the first distribution date associated with your claim being allowed. Earlier claims may have earlier deadlines. Check your FTX notice; tax-form deadlines run separately.

Why you weren't paid: the test FTX applied on 16 June

FTX's 17 July announcement and Distributions Dashboard FAQ set out the eligibility conditions for the 31 July round. By 16 June 2026, the claim had to be allowed under section 2.1.8 of the Plan, the original holder had to have passed KYC, and the holder had to have submitted a valid tax form, completed onboarding with a distribution provider, and passed sanctions screening. An incomplete requirement at the record date could prevent payment in that round.

Selecting a provider does not complete Step 8. Finish the provider's onboarding and confirm that the FTX portal shows “Onboarding Complete”. A selected provider and a completed provider account are separate checkpoints.

Six checks, in this order

#WhereWhat to checkIf something is missing
1Step 5: claim statusWhether the claim is AllowedResolve any dispute or objection. A submitted claim is not necessarily an allowed claim.
2Step 3: KYCGreen checkmarkContact KYC-Support@ftx.com from your registered email.
3Step 7: taxGreen checkmarkComplete the applicable W-8 or W-9. If Step 7 is locked, email support@ftx.com.
4Step 8: providerOnboarding CompleteFinish onboarding on the provider's site using the same email as the FTX portal.
5Step 9: Distributions DashboardWhether a fifth-round amount is dueStep 9 is unavailable for traded claims and claims that elected the Bahamas process.
6Provider account or bank accountWhether the payment has arrivedIf FTX shows a payment sent to the provider, contact that provider about delivery. Payoneer users should also check their bank account.

You can also check the claim on the Kroll claims register under Claims → Advanced. For unresolved objections, see the disputed-claims section of our payment update.

Step 8 issues to check

The email does not match

Your BitGo, Kraken or Payoneer email must match your FTX Customer Portal email. If they differ, follow the account-update process so they match. Then check that the provider has completed its own verification; matching emails alone do not finish onboarding.

Payoneer needs a new account

FTX's Payoneer instructions require a new account created with your FTX portal email, even if you already have a Payoneer account. BitGo and Kraken allow you to link an existing account. If the required email is already tied to an existing Payoneer account, ask support how to proceed rather than creating accounts with mismatched emails.

Your provider choice is final

FTX says the provider selection is final and distributions cannot be split between providers. If unforeseen circumstances mean your selected provider cannot onboard or pay you, contact support@ftx.com. Do not assume the portal will let you switch providers yourself.

Your country or state is not covered

The table compares FTX's three provider lists dated 1 October 2026. Listing a jurisdiction does not guarantee that an individual account will pass onboarding or sanctions screening. US state restrictions still apply.

SituationProviders listed by FTX
44 restricted jurisdictions, including Russia, Ukraine, China and Saudi ArabiaNo provider; distributions are deferred.
United States: New YorkPayoneer only.
United States: Maine and WashingtonBitGo or Payoneer.
Nigeria, Eswatini, Antigua and BarbudaPayoneer only.
Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Palestine, Guinea-BissauKraken only.
104 jurisdictions, including the UK, UAE, Singapore and many EU countriesAll three, subject to state restrictions and individual onboarding.

Japan, India and Indonesia appear on the BitGo and Payoneer lists, but not Kraken's. If no provider is available where you live, read our restricted-jurisdictions guide before assuming the delay is an account error.

Payoneer only pays individual distributions above $50

FTX's provider guide sets a Payoneer threshold of more than $50 per individual distribution and says the threshold may be reduced. It is a payment limit, not a claim-size minimum and not a universal FTX rule. A payment of $50 or less is not eligible through Payoneer under the published rule, even if the underlying claim is larger.

Check your actual class entitlement rather than applying one percentage to every claim. The fifth announcement listed incremental payments of 9% for Class 5A, 5% for Class 5B and 3% for Classes 6A and 6B, while Convenience Claims were listed at 120% cumulatively. Creditors already paid their full entitlement should not infer that a missing new payment means Step 8 is broken.

Very small claims

The confirmed Second Amended Plan defines claims of $10 or less as De Minimis Claims and cancels them without a distribution. Separately, FTX requires a claim above $10 to access Step 8. This claim-size rule should not be confused with Payoneer's per-payment threshold.

Can you still get the fifth payment?

Possibly, if the payment remains payable and the applicable deadlines have not expired. Completing missing steps does not restore a distribution that has already been permanently forfeited. FTX's FAQ distinguishes two clocks:

  • Tax form, Step 7: after each record date, original holders missing the tax requirement receive two notices. Failure to complete it within 90 days of the first notice permanently forfeits the distribution associated with that record date.
  • Provider onboarding, Step 8: the six-month clock runs from the first distribution date associated with the claim being allowed. FTX's example uses a 30 September 2025 distribution date and a 30 March 2026 onboarding deadline.

If 31 July 2026 was that first distribution date for your claim, six months falls on 31 January 2027. This is not a fresh deadline for every creditor who missed the fifth round. Earlier claims may have earlier deadlines, and your tax notice may require action sooner. Check the actual FTX notice and contact support if its application to your claim is unclear.

Completing the steps does not trigger immediate payment or guarantee inclusion in the next round. Eligibility, the next record date, provider coverage and any forfeiture still matter. As of 16 October 2026, no official sixth record date was found in the sources reviewed. Paxtibi's estimate is a record date around mid-December 2026 and payment around late January 2027; these are estimates, not FTX dates.

Who to contact

Use the official portal and provider support channels. FTX says it will never ask you to connect your wallets. Do not share credentials or sign wallet transactions with someone claiming to unlock a missed payment.

If you bought or sold the claim

Step 9 is unavailable for traded claims. For transferred claims, FTX's announcement requires the buyer to be on the official register by the record date and the 21-day notice period to have passed without objection. Buyers should check with the original holder whether prior distributions were forfeited. A transfer does not revive a forfeited fifth-round payment.

Our take

Start with the amount owed and the six checks above. An administrative issue may be fixable, but the next step depends on your claim, provider and notices. Do not wait until January on the assumption that every creditor has the same deadline. If you are comparing payment processing with a sale, review fees, eligibility and transfer timing before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Why didn't I receive the FTX 5th distribution?

Eligibility for the 31 July 2026 round required an allowed claim, original-holder KYC, a valid tax form, completed provider onboarding and sanctions clearance by 16 June 2026. Check whether your claim was due an additional payment, then check these requirements and the provider's delivery status.

What does Onboarding Complete mean in Step 8?

It means the selected provider's onboarding is complete, including its account verification and terms. Your provider email must match your FTX portal email. Selecting a provider alone is insufficient; confirm that the portal displays Onboarding Complete.

Can I still receive the missed fifth distribution?

Possibly, if you remain entitled and have not forfeited it. The tax deadline is 90 days from the first notice. The onboarding clock is six months from the first distribution date associated with your claim being allowed. January 31, 2027 applies when that first date was July 31, 2026; earlier claims may have earlier deadlines.

Can I change my FTX distribution provider?

FTX says the selection is final and distributions cannot be split between providers. If your chosen provider cannot onboard or pay you, contact support@ftx.com about your circumstances.

Is there a minimum payment with Payoneer?

Yes. FTX's provider guide says only individual distributions above $50 qualify for Payoneer, and this threshold may be reduced. Separately, claims of $10 or less are cancelled under the confirmed Plan.

How do I check whether FTX sent my payment to BitGo, Kraken or Payoneer?

Open Step 9 (Distributions Dashboard) in the FTX Customer Portal to see whether a payment was sent for the round, then log in to your provider account. Payoneer users should also check the linked bank account. If FTX shows the payment as sent but it has not arrived, contact the provider, not FTX.
